This movie depicts the towns of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and Sefrou; a cave house at Bahlil; the town of Ifrane; and the countryside of the Middle Atlas region of Morocco. Moulay Idris Zerhoun is a hilltop town located near the ancient Roman city of Volubils. It was founded in 789 AD by Moulay Idriss I, who also initiated the construction of Fes. Sefrou is a small Berber town some 30km from Fes. Nearby is the small village of Bhalil which has cool, spacious cave houses built into the mountainside. Ifrane is a winter ski resort town at an altitude of 1665m in the Middle Atlas region. I made this movie from still image taken on a visit in June 2015.
The 12-acre Majorelle Garden in Marrakesh, Morocco, was designed and developed by the expatriate French watercolour artist Jaques Majorelle after he acquired the property in 1923. The intense cobalt blue paint which he used extensively is named “Majorelle Blue” after him. In 1980 the garden was purchased by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé. After Yves Saint Laurent died in 2008 his ashes were scattered in the garden. I made this video from still images taken on a visit in June 2015.
The Koutoubia Mosque was completed in 1199 and its minaret is 77m high. Close to the mosque is the Djemaa el-Fna, a vast UNESCO listed square and market place which dates from around 1050. To the north of the square are the souks, while to the south are alleys with many riads. The Bahia Palace, set in extensive gardens, was built in 1866 by the Grand Vizier of Marrakesh, and it acquired a reputation as one of the finest palaces in Morocco.

Fes was founded in 789 AD by the Idrisids and was the capital of Morocco until 1925. In the Fes El Bali walled medina, with its medieval architecture and ancient souks, are located the 14th-century al Attarine medersa, featuring elaborate cedar carvings and ornate tile work, and the Chouara Tannery, which is over 900 years old.
The movie begins with views overlooking Fes, followed by the Royal Palace, the Fes el Bali Souk, the Medersa al Attarine, the Souk el Henna, the Chouara Tannery, and ending with views of the New City. I made this movie from still images taken with my Panasonic TZ70 camera on a visit in June 2015.
Volubilis is a Roman city which grew rapidly from the 1st century AD and gained a number of major public buildings in the 2nd century, including a basilica, temple and triumphal arch. Its prosperity, which was derived principally from olive growing, prompted the construction of many fine town-houses with large mosaic floors. I made this movie from still images taken with my TZ70 camera on a visit in June 2015.
