The Jodi Arias Trial captivated Arizona and much of the nation. Once the jury had reached a verdict in Arias' sentencing phase, we began continuous live coverage. I was stationed outside the courthouse and was responsible for hours of live coverage. This clip contains my reports after the hung jury was announced.
Arizona's monsoon season produces some incredible storms, but one storm stands out. With very little warning, we headed to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to capture the storms approach. We knew this would be major dust storm. but we didn't\t expect the storm to wreak havoc on one of the nations busiest airports. The entire story was shot, edited and reported live within 90 minutes. This coverage won a spot news Emmy.
Arizona State University students drew upon their own online experiences to create an app that alerts parents to cyber bullying. To explain how it works, I collaborated with our graphic designers to create one of the most graphic intense stand-ups the station has ever produced.
The traditional format of TV news isn't always the most compelling way to tell a story. I produced this story to be more of a conversation with the anchors rather than a typical "package." The producer and I utilized our set and graphics to tell the story in a more concise and memorable way than tradition would dictate.
