My installation at City College was meant to make the viewer interact with my video as I did when I made mine. I decided to bring the glasses and the index cards so the viewer could imitate the video and have the full experience.
The passage of time in school is vaguely noticed. Since we are always on hurry and struggling to achieve a goal, we don’t notice how fast time goes. In the blink of our eyes the goal of becoming professionals has come and graduation is our success.
This video was inspired by Andy Warhol from the Avant-Garde movement (1928-87). Similar to Warhol who tried to confuse the viewer with his mix of real and filmic time, on his video named “Eat” done in 1964, I as well tried to represent the passage of time using a different perspective. I used shots to represent the struggle students have to go though at school and how fast those years go when they are working on their goals.
