How locally distilled rum produced from nearby sugarcane makes Grand Mercure Phuket Patong’s rum mojito a truly Thai cocktail.

While the original recipe might come from an island nation on the exact opposite side of the globe, the flavours of the Chalong-distilled Rum Mojito are born and bred just a few minutes away from the Grand Mercure Phuket Patong.

A small portion of Phuket’s sugarcane goes to a very special product: locally distilled rum. The pure sugarcane juice from local farms is converted into delicious rum by a French couple who imported distilling equipment from Europe and set up shop just 30 minutes from the hotel.

TK explains how the hotel’s mojito combines Chalong Bay Rum with other Thai ingredients: locally grown limes and mint, sugarcane juice from the same fields as the rum, and Thai-produced sparkling water. This mojito has a pure terroir that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.
