This movie is an early run and gun collaboration for us that we made in a few days using vintage super 8mm film. We improvised the story during production, sent the film off for developing, then digitally transferred the surviving footage in-house to edit for the final footage. We didn’t re-shoot, we used what we had. (p.s. we didn’t use any stunt doubles, either.)
p.s. we made this together under Excitingland Productions, before we officially joined as a team and became salty snack studios.
Rudy Autio is best known for figurative ceramic vessels. He contributed generously and significantly to the world of ceramics. The video was created after Rudy's death in 2007. Curator Peter Held interviewed Rudy at his home in 2007. All of the photos, footage with Rudy and audio interview were provided by the Missoula Art Museum. This video is the first in a series of artist portraits inspired by the Missoula Art Museum Collections.
