  3. This episode of #digitalAPS showcases technology integration with science and math at Drew Model School. With the guidance of Resource Teacher for the Gifted Rachel Denbo, fourth and fifth grade students are using programmable robotic balls called Sphero to integrate technology into science and math.

    Using apps downloaded on iPads, the students program their Spheros to conduct a variety of actions in order to complete various tasks. The lesson shows students practicing the skills of estimation, measuring and collecting data by programming their Sphero to travel a certain distances for certain lengths of time in order to knock over bowling pins. In addition to content standards, programming Sphero teaches students the real world skills of problem solving, trial and error and perseverance.

  4. This episode of #digitalAPS takes viewers to Barrett Elementary School during their Digital Learning Showcase earlier in January. The showcase provided an opportunity for students to share the exciting creative work they are doing with emerging digital tools. During the widely attended and tweeted event, participants chose from nine possible digital learning stations where teams of students (with teacher support) took the lead in showcasing their digital learning and supporting participants as they designed, coded and created with specific shared tools.
