  1. This video developed for a 2001 conference on "Substance Abuse and Teens: The Challenge for Professionals." It was filmed in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was produced by Ron Harrison, SW. It was also shown for several years in part one of the free, ongoing "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" series, developed and for 12 years presented by Ron Harrison and now sponsored and presented by Dawn Farm.   2. "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part education series presented in Washtenaw County, Michigan. This is a slidecast of part one of the series, recorded in June 2015. Part two of the series is recorded and posted separately. Part one provides information on how to recognize and understand adolescent substance abuse. Part two provides information on what should and should not be done to help when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with a short talk by a young person in recovery.

    The series is presented by Dawn Farm Youth and Family Services therapists: Ray Dalton, MA, CAADC; and Jules Cobb, MA, LLPC, The series is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Regional Coordinated School Health Program Network, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Greenbrook Recovery Center. Raymond Dalton, MA, CAADC; Coordinator for Dawn Farm Outpatient, Correctional and Adolescent Services, coordinates the program. The series is targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but is also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone interested for any reason

    The on-site programs are presented at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Education Center (in the Exhibition Room) located at 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197. Part one is presented on the first Tuesdays of October, November, and January through June and part two is presented on the second Tuesdays of October, November, and January through June. All programs are free and open to all.

Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do is a free, ongoing, two-part series targeted to parents and caretakers of teens but also inclusive of other family members, teens, and people who work with teens and families. It is designed to provide education on how to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug use and problems, create a positive attitude towards obtaining help for adolescents with alcohol/other drug problems, and increase participants’ readiness and ability to address adolescent alcohol/other drug use. This program has made a difference to families struggling with teen substance abuse, and to others who want to help.
