June marks the beginning of a new fiscal year at Parkview. In this year ahead, we are seeking God to do big things through His people for the good of our neighbors and the nations—this is a year we long to see God help us launch a new worship location on the SE side of Iowa City and to proceed with a plan for our North Liberty location. This is a year where we are seeking God to help us learn how to live in Biblical community—a year where we are asking God that more and more of our people would be in groups where they learn to study and apply God’s word, where they care for one another, and where they live on mission together. And this is a year where we long to see God equip and empower His people to extend the gospel to those who don’t know Jesus.
For this to happen, we need Godly leadership, and Godly members. The prophet Isaiah offers a strong challenge to leaders and to God’s people in Isaiah 56-57—and he offered an amazing promise: For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. (Isaiah 57:15) What a promise! The holy, almighty God who inhabits the high and holy place, offers to live with us, to be near to us, and to revive our spirits and our hearts!! This Sunday we will dive into this great passage…a timely message for our church as we step into this next year of ministry!
