A new life for an historic site.
The historical Richmond Malt site is special to Melbourne because we have our own memories tied up with it. The location is important because of what surrounds it and the landmark clock on top of the silos marked the time of every journey.
This connection will continue. One of the major buildings in the new district references the shape of the silos and the clock will be there. However the Malt District will develop beyond a historical shell into a thriving, living and commercial quarter, another drawcard to complement this part of the Yarra corridor.
Caydon has a strong and inspiring vision for the future of this site.
It will become a vibrant and viable mixed-use precinct that will make a positive impact on the area and create a 21st century landmark. This development will combine modern residences, generous public spaces, boutique workspaces and retail, much of which will be built sensitively into the old buildings, giving them a new lease on life and enduring relevance to everyone in Melbourne.
The combination of architecture, living and working, will be unlike anything else in Australia – a positive act of urban renewal that will define Cremorne, positioning it as one of the best places to live, work and visit in Melbourne.
