The big 17” touchscreen is an eyecatcher in the Tesla Model S. It’s an innovative car with the newest technologies. My interest in cars and Graphic Design Study makes this an interesting subject to design a user interface for. It’s a new generation of in-car technology. Based on the interface of the current software I wanted to create a modern aproach and new elements to accomplish an updated and improved version of the UI from the Model S. I did a lot of research during my bachelor paper this year where I analyzed the evolution of the car interface. I experienced the Model S display in real life to feel the usability and interaction with the car. I want to thank Tesla Store Eindhoven (NL) for this amazing experience. I had to design this concept for my bachelor project in my third year Graphic Design.
EgoJet is a fresh approach on automotive user interface design.
Its overall dark and flat style minimizes the distraction of the driver and supports his information intake.
The central radial element is a combination of speed and RPM gauge. While the needle visualizes the speed, the current transmission is projected on the outside.
Thus the driver only has to look at one spot to gather all important information.
There is enough space on the left side to handle the most common in-car tasks like searching for music or entering a destination adress for navigation.
In order to support a more complex view like a 360° car browser the user can switch the gauge to linear mode. In this mode the content can occupy two thirds of the screen.
