The astounding Belarus Free Theatre celebrate their 10th anniversary with an epic festival featuring a solidarity concert and 10 landmark productions.

Solidarity Concert: Held at Koko, the concert will unite artists who live in political freedom with banned acts from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour will perform alongside Russian feminist punk-rock protest group Pussy Riot, who became known worldwide after a guerrilla performance in Moscow’s main cathedral led to three members of the band being sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for hooliganism motivated by religious hatred.

Punk-rockers Brutto were formed by exiled Sergey Mikhalok, the former frontman of Belarusian rock group Lyapis Trubetskoj, which was banned in Belarus after Mikhalok signed an open letter of protest against the imprisonment of opponents of Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko in 2010.Also on the line-up is Ukranian supergroup Boombox, who fronted the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev and are now banned from performing in Russia because of their pro-freedom stance.

The concert, which will be live-streamed at thespace.org, is a prelude to the main Staging A Revolution festival – two weeks of BFT performances and discussions featuring 10 productions and 10 discussions between November 2 and 14 in numerous undisclosed and underground locations around London

Festival: BFT are banned in their own country. Their audiences in Minsk receive a text just hours before the show telling them to meet at a secret location. They bring their passports in case of KGB raids and arrest.

Now you can experience what it’s like to be a part of the bravest audience in the world. Join us at a different secret venue each night for an award-winning show. After each performance there will be a discussion with leading political thinkers and activists over Belarusian food & drinks. The whole festival will be live streamed on the Ministry of Counterculture at moc.media/en.
