  5. This short documentary film shows a glimpse into the lives of six Iraqi families living in exile in Cairo. They recall the disturbing events that forced them to flee their homes and discuss the challenges they are now facing in Egypt as they try to live as refugees. For now, their lives are in limbo as they wait for the help they so desperately need.

Award-winning director Joshua van Praag's films and photography have been exhibited in venues as diverse as New York's New Museum, at the Townhouse Gallery in Cairo, and at film festivals like London's Raindance and the New York Independent.

During his ten years as a lighting and camera technician, JvP travelled the world working on over forty feature films under directors like Martin Scorcese, Bernardo Bertolucci, Wong Kar Wai, Woody Allen and Jonathan Demme.

He is currently in production on a pilot for the television mini-series, CREATING FREEDOM in collaboration with painter Raoul Martinez. Narrated by Alan Rickman, cast includes Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Amy Goodman, Daniel Dennett and Steven Pinker.

AMADOU IS ALIVE, a feature length screenplay by JvP inspired by the true story of a Liberian refugee, is currently in development for a 2011 production in Cairo and Monrovia.
