Dalton Dingus was dying, though he did not know it. 9 year old Dalton was battling Cystic Fibrosis, a battle he could not win, and yet he pushed forward as if he were a healthy young man.
In his final weeks on Earth Dalton set a goal for himself: collect the most Christmas cards EVER received by one person on a single Christmas holiday. No easy task, however Dalton lived fearlessly and set out on a mission to achieve this goal. Within days of his mother and close family and friends posting about his wish on social media the world responded flooding Magoffin County post offices with hundreds of thousands of Christmas cards and letters, gifts and well wishes. Mail was being delivered in full sized trucks and trailers to Dalton's doorstep each and every day leading up to Christmas 2012, cards from across the country and all around the world! When all was said and done Dalton had received over 800,000 cards from every continent on the planet! Not too shabby for a little boy from Middle of Nowhere, Kentucky, eh?
Along the way a few meatheads from Massachusetts came into Dalton's world and built relationships that would last long after his passing. As I sit here typing this bio I remember back to when I first met him, his family, to when I first realized that inspiration knows no age and no county lines, that you can be inspired and have your life changed ANYWHERE by ANYONE with the will to inspire change! Dalton had that will, and for that I am forever thankful.
This is a slideshow set to Tears In Heaven covered by Ozzy, Steven Tyler, Elton and the late Scott Weiland to name a few.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch this video from the first to the final frames as they tell Dalton's story, at least how I saw it. Thank you.
