ARCTIC shows the freezing and at the same time the beautiful conditions that Finnish winter has to offer. I’ve never had the time to work on bigger projects during winter, so this film consists of different sequences filmed during current and last winter. The clips are filmed in: Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, Riisitunturi National Park, Kivesvaara and Paltaniemi.
Clips are available for licensing. Contact me for inquiries: email@example.com
I had been dreaming about making this trip for more than 10 years. It was not as desired as the one I made last year on the West coast (vimeo.com/56812817), but still. Today, I feel like I never left Iceland. I stayed in the mountains and hot springs. Every night I see myself arriving to Jökulsárlón and spending the night of my 31st birthday contemplating the northern lights. A permanent show. Everywhere. I lost myself there. Too good to be true. The only thing I have been thinking about ever since is too grab my bagpack, my stuff and go away, far away, again.

Wake up at 4pm after a long cold night under the Aurora Borealis and the first thing I would do is check the forecast for tonight's show. Eat some dinner, get bundled up for the -40 degrees CELSIUS weather, grab my cameras and go! It is very difficult to predict the Northern Lights and I wasn't going to miss any of it!
All of a sudden it would appear, shortly after sunset you could start to see it flowing through the sky! The brighter it got the faster it moved! At times it literally filled the sky!
It was so cold standing outside for the hours of watching this phenomenon that my beard would freeze solid! The other crazy cold thing was any camera cable's had to be defrosted before bent or they would simply snap in half!
