The process of handmaking a pottery mug from start to finish including preparing the clay, throwing, putting a handle on, slipping, decorating, glazing and firing. Made by Michelle Lowe in Edinburgh, Scotland
This video examines the process of the the potters hands when making a piece of pottery on the wheel. Most videos of the wheel throwing process only capture the 'magical' effect that the potter has on the clay and not the work of the potter. I have filmed some of the most basic and playful movements that most beginners make. Hopefully this gives everyone a better understanding of the effects the potter's hand movements have on the clay when making basic forms.
