Love at First Flight is a documentary on ultimate, or rather, why people play ultimate. It is a documentary for non-players that tries to explain our passion for the sport that we love.
It was finished in the July of 2012, but due to some issues, it was released in the September of 2013. A lot has changed since then, and I've learned even more about ultimate, life and other things.
For one, I've had even bigger achievements, and now expect to have even more. It goes to show how much of a dark space I was in back when I made the documentary. Also, Felix cut his decade old mohawk, quite a shocker! Bob left her job and traveled around Europe on a bike (she actually still is travelling while I'm writing this), I won a Spirit award with at the European Beach Championships with the Turkish National Team and many more things..
One thing remains the same though, and that is my passion and love for ultimate. Hopefully it will get through to you, at least a little bit through this documentary.
In this video, I talk about the basics of cutting and relate it to a quick and easy handler cutting drill.
As a handler, it's important to get use to cutting a few steps each time in order to get open for the disc. Too many handlers will just stand in place and not move their feet or their body and that makes it easy for the defender since the defender can just stand there and take away the throw.
Stacked (the DVD) was an ultimate frisbee dvd released in 2003 by Bodhisattva Films. The highlight reel featured 3 members of Furious George in the 3 man marking/throwing drill.
They are Sean Boyle, Derek Alexander and Mike Grant. Derek and Mike are two of the best ultimate players to ever play the game and between the two of them, they have won World's, USA Championships and Canadian Championships.
This remains one of the best ultimate videos I've ever seen and was instrumental to teaching me more about throwing and marking.
