    The Wasatch Powder Keg is one of the largest ski mountaineering races in the United States. The event features three days of racing, starting with a sprint Friday night, followed on Saturday by the individual race, and finishing Sunday with the longer, more technical teams event. This year, the Powder Keg partnered with the Vertfest Tour. Presented by Outdoor Research, Vertfest is a multi-stop mountain festival that raises money for regional avalanche centers and promotes snow safety education.

Now in its 17th year, the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse is an endurance backcountry ski race through the remote Elk Range in the heart of the Rockies. The race begins at midnight in Crested Butte, Colorado, and ends 40 miles to the north in the town of Aspen.
