Materialist Encounter is a performative talk. The structure is a film, a talk and a sculptural object worn for the talk. I was thinking about how interior thought and spaces can/might overlap. The film is constructed to show the making/thinking process, the co-created sculptural object is a part of the presentation conjoined to the artist.
What you see on line is only the film element. The artwork is to be performed as a talk and should be experienced as such.
This is only a demonstration of the performative object. This work was made and performed at the Subjectivities and Feminism Performance Dinner At Chelsea College of Art Feb. 2015 and at the Research Hub, Cookhouse Gallery as part of the Disobedient Objects opening, March 23, 2015.
Performing the body. Casting a latex bladder using the tactile senses of the body. The object is brought into being through the tactile connection of the body; weight, viscosity and temperature are the way in which I can tell if the material on the inside is distributed evenly and when it is approaching a critical setting period.
