On Monday, April 5, 2010, Jim Blackburn executed one of the biggest decisions of his life. Today, at 200 pounds, Jim reflects back on the decision making process that lead him to surgery and the circumstances leading up to his morbidly obese weight of 420 pounds. Losing 174 pounds his first year after surgery, the road was bumpy and it took a lot of hard work and support from family, friends, and the doctors and staff of Emory Bariatrics. Today, Jim is training for his first full marathon in New Orleans and plans to be ready to compete in a full triathlon by next season. In an effort to give back, Jim continues to make himself available to speak to groups about his journey and to offer encouragement and support, through his story, to those considering weight loss surgery. If you have questions for Jim or would like to discuss a possible speaking engagement you can email him at jmbatlanta@gmail.com and also be sure to follow Jim on Twitter @JmbAtlanta #220PoundsDown
