This week Van Vandegriff continued our How Then Shall We Live? series with a message on the ninth commandment, “You Shall Not Bear False Witness.” Our culture can tell us that it is okay to lie about some things, but we are made to walk out in truth. When we bring things out into the light, we can trust that God will work all things together for our good.
This week Jimmy continued our How Then Shall We Live? series with a message on honoring the Lord’s name. Names are not just random things, they have meaning and power. The name of the Lord is significant and He is worthy to be praised and exalted. When we honor the Lord's name, we become sensitized to know what is and isn't God.
This week, Jimmy continued our How Then Shall We Live series with a message on the first two commandments: 1. Thou shall be no other gods before Me and 2. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. (Exodus 20: 3-4) Idols are anything that keep us from loving God wholly. God doesn’t give us rules to keep us from things – He gives us rules so we will have the fullness of life.
This week, Jimmy kicked off our new series “How Then Shall We Live?” Over the next ten weeks, we will be diving into the Ten Commandments, and learning more about how God intends for us to live. The commandments give us structure, so we can have life to the fullest.
This week, Jimmy shared out of Isaiah 60:1-3 and shared vision for us as we head into the fall semester. We are all chosen by God, and therefore bring light and hope into places that desperately need it. Our imperfections are made into good things when we look to Jesus.
