The Seed and The Gardener is a dance fable ala Aesop but replaces the moral punch line with an interrogatory pause. In the four minute video the different time frames the seed and the gardener exist in are juxtaposed against each other. Through the personification of the seed and plants parity can be created between the plants and the gardener. In this non-hierarchical arrangement the one season life span of the plant as compared to the multiple years of the gardener permits a construct by which we can experience the fast and slow of the plants life against the gardener's.
The movement for The Seed and The Gardener was created through guided improvisations in relationship to the garden. The seeds explore the juxtapositions of the modern human body/being and its connection to and alienation from the earth. The martial-like gardener/guardian both controls and is burdened by the existence of the seeds as they grow towards fruition.
