Synopsis: Matt Smith, an openly gay young man in conservative South Carolina, reflects on his first relationship with a man and the tragic end to their time together. This powerful portrait examines the difficulties of being gay in rural America, the strength to overcome deep personal pain, and the hope for acceptance.

ABOUT: Alex Moratto is a Brazilian-­American director whose work has been in the Official Selections of festivals and museums such as Thessaloniki, Indie Grits, Huesca, RiverRun, SECCA and the DGA New York. His awards and fellowships include the Los Angeles Film Independent Fast Track Fellowship & Directing Lab Fellowship, the North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship, Werner Herzog's Rogue Seminar, and the Director's Guild of America Student Film Jury Award. He had a screenplay go through the Sundance Creative Producing Labs and studied Film Directing at the UNC School of the Arts where he was a Kenan Excellence Full Scholarship recipient. As an editor on commercials and documentaries, he has worked on projects for MoMA, Coach, Honey Maid, Warner Bros, and Laureate Universities, among others.
