Eugene, ORE. -- Michael Weed, the President of the Associated Students of Lane Community College, hasn’t always been as privileged as he is now. Weed has come a long way from battling substance abuse, traveling without a home, and living outside. When he decided to go back to school at Lane CC, he wanted to make sure no one else went hungry. With help, he founded the Rainy Day Food Pantry, which is open to low-income students and faculty.

Starting the Rainy Day Pantry was Weed's first step toward acheiving his goal to feed users of the pantry "every day, all day long, free."

"It should be everybody's human right to not go hungry," Weed said.
