altLab Lisbon's Hackerspace

  1. We built a helmet device with humidity, temperature and fluid intake sensors to record and measure the reaction of nuclear taco victims of Codebits 2011 Nuclear Taco Challenge. The sensors are connected by Arduino and a few timelapse videos will be recorded documenting the user experience. The 1:30 project presentation will be a japanese gameshow. The host displayed using face substituion technology in realtime. Additional computer graphics using OpenFrameworks to present the progression of the challengers.

You can read more about it at our project page altlab.org/2011/11/17/nuclear-taco-sensor-helmet-gameshow/ or just watch the video below to understand the hype.

AltLab is a collective dedicated to independent research and experimentation in alternative media. Community-based and community-building by nature, it seeks to promote active participation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among individuals such as artists, programmers, engineers, hobbyists, scientists, and all those who wish to freely explore creative and emancipatory uses of technology. Just like many other hackerspaces which have emerged all over the world in recent years, AltLab has also been founded on the notions of software/hardware libre and the belief in collective independent platforms for open and active knowledge-sharing and experimentation.
