Amazing Sky Videos

This short video features a time-lapse of noctilucent clouds from June 19, 2019, as seen from southern Alberta. This was a very bright display with lots of structure. As is usual with NLCs, the clouds moved slowly with an east to west motion, often showing rippling waves – gravity waves – that stand in place, as if the clouds are pouring over something below them in the sky.

The video clip begins and ends with a still image panorama shot before the movie sequence.

The time-lapse is made from 1000 frames shot from 11:33 pm to 12:06 am, MDT. I wish I had shot more frames! All processing and assembly with LRTimelapse and Adobe Camera Raw.

All exposures were one second at f/2.8 with a 50mm lens and Sony a7III at ISO 400. Interval was one second.

Music is "Serenity" by Adi Goldstein, and is used by permission.
