  2. In this week’s episode, Snapshots follows a group of students from Yorktown and Wakefield high schools and the H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program as they participate in the YMCA’s annual Model General Assembly in Richmond in mid-April.

    While in Richmond, APS students gathered with hundreds of their peers from around the state to act as a mock legislature, presenting bills in committee, presenting on the House and Senate floors, lobbying and reporting.

  3. In this week’s episode of Snapshots, Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy talks with early childhood coordinator Kate Graham about “Day of Play,” the culminating activity in the Week of the Young Child celebration.

    This annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world's largest early childhood education association. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

In this week’s episode, Snapshots features Kenmore’s annual 7th Grade Coffee House where students shared choral readings of Langston Hughes poetry as well as their own works with parents and invited guests on Feb. 20. For their presentations, some students dramatized their poems, others students added percussion instrumentation to emphasize the emotions in their poems and still others chose just to do a simple choral reading.
