A dance video by Katerina Valdivia Bruch

An exploration on the discipline of the body, punishment, control and restriction of movement at home, in public institutions, in the streets and at the workspace. Katerina’s basis for her research was Foucault’s book “Discipline and Punish”, in which the author traces the history of the modern penal system.

The video was made during Katerina Valdivia Bruch’s bangaloREsidency@Natya & STEM Dance Kampni, supported by Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore. It was shot at Freedom Park, the former Central Jail, in Bangalore, December 2016.
