1. Brain Mountford's paintings are usually conceived almost like flicking through television channels, or surfing web pages. This refers to the way he gathers ideas. Some of these ideas may have wider philosophical connections and some may be deliberately banal - in relation to how he feels at any particular time. He employs intuition and briskly reference books for ideas ranging from the “Voyages of Christopher Columbus” to “Successful Gardening, Colour all Year”.

His work is comedic, melancholic, and at times, uncomfortable.

He is the artist chosen for the 2015 edition of the Hyundai Motor Series at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea’s 10-year long project to support solo exhibitions of distinguished Korean artists with distinctive practices." - Source: Bloomberg

  3. crosstownarts.org/calendar/blind-navigator/

Crosstown Arts is pleased to present “Blind Navigator,” an exhibition of new individual and collaborative works by New York-based artist Clare Torina and Memphis-based artist Alex Paulus.

At the heart of this exhibition is an acknowledgement of the bewilderment and reformation during creative process. Together, the artists volley to find a metaphor for the act of seeing and being seen while in the throes of malfunction. The blind navigator is the artist, the viewer, and the work itself feeling its way through shadows.
