Make your mark. Make a splash. Go big or go home. Take part in North America's largest subway film festival.

The 8th annual Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) returns to subway platform screens across Toronto from September 5 - 15, 2014. Submit for free until June 15th. Final deadline is July 15, 2014.

The TUFF call for submissions is open to Canadian and international filmmakers and accepts all genres of silent, one-minute film, video, and animation of interest to an urban audience. Selected films are eligible for cash prizes and awards. Selections are made by our programming team and top prizes are awarded by a special guest judge. Past guest judges include Bruce McDonald, Jennifer Baichwal, Atom Egoyan, and Deepa Mehta.

New this year, TUFF is also accepting film, video and animation submission for the TUFF Local Stories programme, which will appear on the Pattison Onestop network of screens in malls across Canada. TUFF Local Stories will feature work by Canadians that examine, explore, critique, or show love for their own hometowns in creative ways. Selections of these ‘local stories’ will appear in shopping centres across their home province. To be eligible for this programme, you must live in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, or Quebec. Any text that appears on screen in Quebec submissions must either be in French or be bilingual.

TUFF screens at 10-minute intervals on over 290 platform screens in 63 stations across the Toronto subway system, and non-stop at designated "Film Zones" located at key downtown stations. The audience for TUFF includes over one million daily commuters, and runs concurrent with the Toronto International Film Festival. The TUFF Local Stories programme screens at 5-minute intervals on 300 screens in 40 malls across Canada for 1 week from September 8-14, 2014.
