Shape Cartoons

Artist: Kim Newall

Ages: Kindergarten and up

1) To encourage children to create a simple cartoon character to express their delightful
imaginations and share themselves with others.

2) To use these characters to explore the variety within single shapes.

Description: Begin with a triangle and create “Terrible Triangle” using only triangles
and diamonds. Demonstrate a few different triangles inside the triangle, perhaps a couple
eyes, then let the children go from there. “Silly Square” is made the same way: begin
with a square and add parts and details by using only squares and rectangles.
