  3. Seventh grade students at North Park Montessori created this stop motion animation for the 2014 AWG with ASIFA/Central, the Midwest chapter of the international animation organization.
    AWG (ASIFA Workshop Group) is a collaborative international animation project. The Grand Rapids Community Media Center, along with faculty and students from Grand Valley State University worked with the students for this project.

    Students around the world create an animation based on a common theme, "Color/Colour"). The films premiered internationally at VAFI: the Varazdin International Festival for Children and Youth, in Croatia, and had an Asian Premiere at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Japan) in August, 2014.

AWE: Animation Workshop Educators is a team of educators who are drawn together through our love of teaching children, and our love of aNiMaTioN! Each year, we participate with the international collaborative animation project coordinated by ASIFA, the international animation society. These finished animations and behind-the-scenes films are from our ASIFA Workshop Group (AWG) projects, 2006 - present.
The primary workshop co-teachers are Deanna Morse, Gretchen Vinnedge, Lynn McKeown, Maggie Annerino, and Suzanne Zack.Workshops are supported by the Education Department of the CMC, and by Grand Valley State University... and ASIFA/Central, the Midwest USA Chapter of the international ASIFA.
