1. Every year the city of Albuquerque host the largest hot air balloon event in the world, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
Each morning begins very early as a group of 6-12 hot air balloons known as Dawn Patrol, ascent into the deep blue sky before sunrise. These skilled pilots test wind and weather conditions as other pilots and crew begin to lay out hundreds of balloons across the field.
Just as dawn breaks, the next wave of balloons begin to lift off. When the sun rises above the Sandia Mountains it simultaneously fills the morning with beautiful light as the balloons fill the sky with color. The next 60-90 minutes are a great mix of fun and chaos as several hundred more balloons lift off, wave after wave.
I had a absolute blast capturing this nine day festival. Even though the weather cancelled several events it was nevertheless an incredibly beautiful and successful time! Thank you for taking the time to watch :)

This short film only shows about half of the footage I captured. Stay tuned for a longer, extended cut :)

  2. A portrait of the beautiful city of Leiden (also known as the "Sleutelstad" or "City of Keys") in timelapse, hyperlapse, boatlapse and bikelapse. Shot over the course of a year, it includes many of Leiden's iconic places and buildings. Whenever I go out and shoot timelapse, I see something new, even though I may have passed a place or building countless times before. Hopefully, that goes as well for those who watch this video. Enjoy!

Thanks to the SVB and Fitland XL Level for location access. The boatlapses would not have been possible without the help of Jack Geerlings from Rondvaart Leiden (rondvaartleiden.nl/en/). 3. This montage was filmed during two years of trips around California, Arizona, Utah, and Hawaii. Locations include Yosemite, Death Valley, Arches, Canyonlands, and Joshua Tree National Parks. Other locations include Mt. Whitney (the tallest peak in the continental U.S.), Havasupai Falls (in the Grand Canyon), Monument Valley, the Salton Sea, the San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm, the Tehachapi Pass Wind Farm, Goblin Valley, Trona Pinnacles, Honolulu (the two urban scenes), the Valley of Fire, Horseshoe Bend, and several other spots I would prefer not to disclose.

Many of the locations required carrying way too much camera gear on multi-day backpacking trips into the wilderness. Over 12,000 images were included in this montage, and those represent perhaps half of the total amount filmed. More of my still and timelapse work can be found here, at sgphotos.com, and at flickr.com/photos/geekyrocketguy. The fullres timelapse is 4K resolution, though Vimeo doesn't support it...

I used home-built motion equipment (a dolly and a rotary table) in many of the scenes. They use motors salvaged from discarded printers and an Arduino microcontroller for the user interface. More information on it is available at sgphotos.com/portfolio/timelapse/motionproject/.

  4. London is growing fast and is going vertical… I've been in London for 3 years now and from the first time I came here a lot has changed, in this TimeLapse you can see the new Skyline in the city, with new Skyscrapers, the new lights on TowerBridge changed for the Olympics and the beautiful Canary Wharf..
I use the Hyperlapse technique to make the video more dynamic and special.
