-SYNOPSIS-

Life in tent encampments, vehicles, motels, and storage units - REAL CHANGE focuses on four men who sell Real Change News, a street newspaper in Seattle. Follow ROBERT, GEORGE, DANIEL, and BUDDY as they navigate the less visible side of homelessness in America.

They are among the growing number of unemployed, disabled, aging, and discouraged workers who society has left behind. Robert is a disabled kidney dialysis patient who lives in his truck with his dog. George is a former carpenter who became homeless after suffering a stroke and losing his home. Buddy is a former blue-collar worker, who has worked his whole life but has never been able to shake his past. Daniel lives in a tent that is his own, but has not felt at home for many years.

Despite their struggles, they persevere. Each sells newspapers to get by.

I am a Cinematographer and award-winning Filmmaker. I studied at the Northwest Film Center, and earned my interdisciplinary undergraduate degree from Portland State University, summa cum laude.

I have shot a variety of film and video, including work for NOWNESS and MUN2. I directed and photographed the short documentary ‘REAL CHANGE,’ an official selection at the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the 38th Cleveland International Film Festival, the 17th Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, and many others. The film was awarded “Best Documentary” by the New England Underground Film Festival, and “Best Documentary Short” by the DIY Film Festival, and it won a Bronze Jury Prize at the Seattle Social Justice Film Festival. Following many enthusiastic festival screenings, the film received a Vimeo Staff Pick. I also directed the photography of many interviews for Amy Scott’s feature documentary “Once I Was: The Hal Ashby Story."

In addition to working as a cinematographer, I create Commercial and Branded Content. I am available for wet-hire and for travel. I enjoy collaborating with talented and creative storytellers, and I am always looking for new projects.
