If you had a chance to look at the video you already know this: Abel Sanchez has a way to play in front of people which makes them stop speaking for a moment, maybe even stop thinking... It's just about listening to this drum duo at the start... Some spanish in color in Berlin. He plays here "El patio" in a small cafe with Jonas Ferhenberg.

Soon, i'll realease another video from him and his band.

I met Petra Nachtmanova randomly one year ago in the train between Bucarest and Istanbul. She was then trying to dialogue with the Turkish Train conductor who was shouting at us with some notion of Ouzbek she learned in the past. I realized later on that she was not only skilled in language but also surprising musician passionate in exploring all musics from eastern cultures.

One year later in Berlin, she learned more turkish and play the Saz. She's part of four musical projects in four different language: The Bulgarian Voices Berlin, the Choir of the Turkish Conservatoire, the band "Tralalka" and this projekt with the Alevit Culture Center of Kreuzberg.

Here under the direction of Nevzat Akpınar, she plays the song from Mahsuni Şerif: "Bu Yıl Benim Yeşil Bağım" during an evening dedicated to the dialog of culture.
It's really nice to compare with the original: bit.ly/mP9Q7i

  3. This is one of these discoveries you will feel attached to. Emma and her voice are captivating, she perform sometimes discreetly in small cafes of Berlin, and sometimes she's able to captivate a saturday night crowd, singing jazz, traditional english songs, eastern european music or her own songs. I have been introduced to her through some friends with this "you have to listen to this voice" ... and now it's hard to wait for the next concert.

She sings here a cover of the spanish song "En la mar" in the cafe Alice Gryphius during the very recommended monthly songwritter evening: Musicatessen.

  4. I was coming back home at 3 in the morning that saturday night aiming for the favorite late falafel sandwich...
But I didn't manage to make more than 15 meters without noticing this 5 guys playing to a crowd who, like me, where finally not so much in a hurry to go home... i had luckily my camera with me and was able to save this moment on film.
The sad daily reality of this station is a mix of hurry passengers and some less hurry silhouettes spending time between bottle of beers and other addictions. That night everybody spent some minutes dancing and drinking together.

  5. Max was a neighbour in Berlin for two years. He was also part of another band "Diving for sunken treasure". Then he started to play out his solo project. Just a guitar, great songs and an unforgettable voice.
I really like the atmosphere of this video, the way he fits in this ambiance and all what he describe with his interpretation...

Max sings here a cover of Bob dylan's "don't think twice"
