Bibliotherapy is the use of fiction and poetry to support and increase positive outcomes for people with mental health and wellbeing issues.
This short film has been created to offer an insight into how bibliotherapy works.
In the film, participants from some of the groups in Kirklees explain – in their own words – what they feel are the benefits of bibliotherapy.
The film also includes interviews with bibliotherapists and health care professionals who reflect on the clinical benefits of bibliotherapy for their patients.
Bibliotherapy helps to promote integration as not all the participants have mental health or wellbeing issues. Some of the people in this film have experienced mental health problems; others have not.
