This helicopter was built as a personal project for my portfolio to showcase how a vehicle could look on the new Sony and MS consoles. I created all of the art including the concept, which was inspired by the Russian Mi-24 Hind gunship. This video was converted from a playblast taken within Maya 2012's viewport 2.0. The model is roughly 35k triangles and is using a baked normalmap, diffuse, color spec, gloss, and alpha map (for glass only).
the helicopter blueprints i used are for an AW109.
The basic shape was close enough to give me a good base to work off of. after i achieved the basic form i started to veer away from the blueprints and used reference photos of the AW139 to fill out more specific details.
i'll probably add a few more details and add some sag to the blades and call the model done.
this model still needs proper materials but i'll get to that soon too...
