2014 World Rookie Tour, the largest youth snowboard international series, landed twice in Italy in Livigno and Monte Bondone - Trentino.
The WSF World Rookie Fest in Livigno, Valtellina - Italy, is the kick off event of the WRT season, scheduled every year in early january. It is the largest youth snowboard slopestyle in the world with up to 150 riders coming from 18 countries. All partecipants are pre-selected in their home-nations in order to ensure only the best riders from each country join the event. Riders are splitted in grom category (under 15 years old) and rookie (up to 18 years) and the event is famous for the highly riding level of all partecipants. Winning this event is the start up of several professional snowboarders carrier: in the wall of fame of this event there are world class and olympic riders such us Roope Tonteri (FIN), Ulrick Badertsher (NOR), Saarka Poncochova (CZK), Gjermund Braathen (NOR), Staale Sandbacj (NOR) and many other. The 2014 Trentino Rookie Fest hosted in Monte Bondone, Italy, was the first double event ever in the WSF World Rookie Tour, with both Halfpipe and Slopestyle competitions. 70 riders from 10 nations joined the event and enjoyed a fantastic travel experience with many lifestyle activities: film premiere, night sessions and visit at Trento old town and MUSE Natural Museum.
World Rookie Tour is not only about competing. It is progression of the snowboard sport and networking with rising stars from all over, with 10 international events across Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia, and more than 30 qualifing contest to get a spot in the end of season Volkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria, where the WSF World Rookie Champion titles are awarded every year.
