Bookmark, in production since 1988, is a series of half hour in-depth and thoroughly researched interviews with prominent southern and national authors. Host Don Noble, himself a prolific writer with a PhD in English, is also lively and accessible. He creates conversations full of humor and insight with a versatility to match the wide ranging subject matter which the authors and their writings bring to the exchange. The show often shoots on location to reach authors of note and sometimes incorporates visual imagery as well as interview. However, the heart of the series lies in the quality of its conversations. More than fifty writers - including literary stars such as James Dickey, John Barth, Peter Taylor, Gay Talese, William Styron, Ray Bradbury, Sena Jeter Naslund, Ann Rice, Shirley Ann Grau and Anne Rivers Siddons - have discussed their work on Bookmark during the past several years on Alabama Public Television.
