Day trip out of Crete to the fabled island of Santorini, with a sailboat ride into the caldera, to visit the hot springs of Nea Kameni volcano.
Santorini is what remains of a cataclysmic volcanic eruption some 3,600 years ago, that destroyed the settlements of a formally single island, affected much of Southern Europe, parts of North Africa, and possibly hastened the fall of the Minoan civilization on Crete. The town of Oia deserves a more detailed exposition, but we were very time constrained and can only provide a very basic overview. Given that the place has been photographed millions of times, I still think the anamorphic rendering adds a nice bit of flavor to the images.
Footage captured hand held, using a Panasonic GH5 with an adapted 1.33x anamorphic lens, in 4k, 10-bit 4:2:2 resolution. Presented in a true 2.39:1 aspect ration.
