Canadian Art

As part of Villa Toronto's opening-night celebrations, the Art Gallery of Ontario partnered with Reykjavik's i8 Gallery to present Ragnar Kjartansson's An Evening of Misery.

The one-night only performance was held in Walker Court, the AGO's intimate ground-level atrium. Dressed in tuxedos, Kjartansson and his frequent collaborator Davíð Þór Jónsson played a selection of the saddest songs ever written, ranging from 19th-century German Lieder to country-gospel and pop songs from the American South.
