The chorus is a year-round program in which more than 100 boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18 join together to sing and learn and grow. The CCC was founded in 1994 by John Alston, an associate professor of music at Swarthmore College. Having grown up in a tough neighborhood in Newark, NJ, John's own life was transformed when he joined the Newark Boys Chorus. Because the city of Chester, near Swarthmore, reminded him of his own hometown, he set out to use his talents as a teacher, conductor and singer to offer the children of Chester the opportunity to change their lives through music.
