A Translation that Is Faithful to the Original—Knowing What God Actually Said

The translation of God's Word from the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek is a task unlike any other and should never be taken lightly. It carries with it the heaviest responsibility: the translator renders God's thoughts into a modern language. The Updated American Standard Version (UASV) is a literal translation.

This updated edition is an improvement of the translated text beyond the American Standard Version's revision of the King James Version. However, the Updated American Standard Version offers a complete updating and revision of the archaic words, obsolete expressions, and the handful of errors in translation, as well as any textual decisions.

Third John is a personal letter that revolves around three individuals: Gaius (the recipient), Diotrephes (the troubler), and Demetrius (probably the bearer of the letter). Like 2 John it follows closely the ancient epistolary form. It contains a word of exhortation to Gaius encouraging him not to imitate the bad example of Diotrephes but to continue the good work he is doing of receiving and supporting the traveling teachers/missionaries. The letter follows the basic epistolary pattern with an introduction (vv. 1–4), body (vv. 5–12), and a conclusion (vv. 13–14).

Though verses 1–4 clearly function as the salutation, it is possible to outline the letter for teaching purposes around the four (counting the elder) personalities of the book. Verses 1–8 contain a multifold commendation of Gaius. Verses 9–10 condemn the highhanded and malicious autocracy of Diotrephes. Verses 11–12, taken as a unit, praise the godly Demetrius. Verses 13–14 close with a glimpse into the heart of the elder. Four men and their reputations (growing out of their behavior) is the sum and substance of 3 John. John again constructs this letter with the building blocks of key word repetition: “beloved” (4; vv. 1, 2, 5, 11; “dear” HCSB); “truth” or “true” (7; vv. 1, 3 [twice]; 4, 8, 12 [twice]). The elder is understandably concerned that his authority is being challenged. He fears the power play of Diotrephes may succeed and that others might be influenced by him. He will come if necessary for a face-to-face meeting where he will personally deal with the situation. In the meantime John seeks to enlist the support of Gaius. He praises him for his past performance and encourages him to keep it up. Demetrius comes to Gaius both as the bearer of the letter and a reinforcement in the crisis. Third John provides insight into a personality conflict that arose at the end of the first century and the strategy adopted by the elder to resolve it. - Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary

    Book Description

Herein Andrews will give the reader exactly what the Bible offers on exposing who the Antichrist and the Man of Lawlessness are. If we look at the texts that refer to the antichrist and the man of lawlessness, we will have lines of evidence that will enable us to identify them. Why is it important that we know who the antichrist and the man of lawlessness are? The antichrist and the man of lawlessness have had a greater impact on humanity and Christianity over the past centuries than many know. Moreover, the influence on the true worshipers of Christianity today has been even more significant and will only go from bad to worse as we come closer the second coming of Christ.

Let us offer an analogy to make the above point, even more, impactful. What would we do if a deadly outbreak of a disease that is spreading more quickly and more extensively among the people than would normally be expected and it is raging in our country, especially within our city, right in our community? Would we not look for a way to build up our immune system? Would we not also want to avoid anyone carrying the disease? The same holds true of the antichrist and the man of lawlessness, who not only have the ability to take our physical life but also our eternal life. Therefore, in a Scriptural sense, we would want to build ourselves up spiritually and avoid anyone who is affected by these evil ones, not to mention the antichrist and the man of lawlessness themselves. The Scriptures tell us “the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is in the world already.” (1 John 4:3) Still staying with the analogy, if we want to avoid being infected, we have to identify the antichrist/man of lawlessness and the carriers of the disease.

This publication will accomplish just that and do so Scripturally. Nothing herein will be based on an opinion; it will all be God’s Word. The first four chapters will cover the Antichrist . Chapters 5-6 will deal with the Man of Lawlessness . The apostle Paul tells us “Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with …” [2 Thessalonians 2:8] In addition, Chapter 7 will identify the Mark of the Beast from the book of Revelation.

  4. Basic Bible Doctrines of the Christian Faith by Christian Publishing House enables the churchgoer to teach the Basic Bible Doctrines. Also, it is beneficial for any Christian seeking a refresher on the Basic Bible Doctrines themselves. However, if there are Christians who want to know explicitly what God's Word says about these Basic Bible Doctrines, without getting buried in a quagmire of denominational issues, they too should invest in a copy of each book.

  5. Thank you for your interest in Christian Publishing House!

CPH serves as a guide to those who are interested in walking with God, living a good and productive Christian life, and abiding in his love. What does this involve? We must visit the words of Jesus Christ, as he says, "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love." (John 15:10) To evidence the love of God in our lives, we need to apply the Word of God in everyday life.

It is CPH's genuine expectation that our publications will help our readers to more fully show the love of God in their life and thus can fulfill the wishes of the Creator himself, "Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him who reproaches me." (Proverbs 27:11)

Christian Publishing House was founded in January, 2013. Our goal is to help Christians around the world, who are lacking the basic knowledge of the Bible's teachings. Thus, they are unable to take advantage of the full happiness of partaking in joint worship with God. Christian Publishing House has the purpose, to help all Christians to increase and expand their understanding of God's Word and to apply it more fully in their lives.

In the Bible, you can interact with a living God who wants a personal relationship with you. In addition, through the books of Christian Publishing House you will learn how to engage His words like never before. Christian Publishing House creates the opportunity to grow in knowledge of “the only true God, and the One You have sent—Jesus Christ” (John 17:3), through practical books that will help you grow in the faith, overcome the difficulties that Satan's world will throw at you, and maintain your relationship with the one and only true God. You will learn to observe, understand, and apply the Bible to transform your life.

Christian Publishing House offers the Bible student an introduction to many different subject areas that will help him or her to follow the following biblical counsel:

1 Peter 3:15 English Standard Version (ESV)
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you

Jude 1:3 English Standard Version (ESV)
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

Jude 1:22-23 English Standard Version (ESV)
And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire;

Our Objective
Publish books that are the deeper things of God's Word, but easy to understand.
Educate the churchgoer about his or her Bible, so s/he can defend the book they claim to be the Word of God.
Educate every Christian on how they can effectively share God's Word in their community.
Why us?
Many Christians may know some of the Bible’s content, yet feel nervous when others ask them critical questions. On the other hand, they may move to help a friend who has doubts, but this doubting friend asks those tough questions. Then again, maybe they want to be strong in what they believe, and make sure that the Bible is what it claims to be. Therefore, CPH publications will be beneficial for anyone looking to fill these cracks in their spiritual armor.
