  1. "Transforming compassion for those in need into meals for all to feed"

The ability to create a tangible result from compassion for others is an art form. Our structure this year is a tribute to a piece of art: Nathan Sawaya's Lego sculpture, "Yellow." It features cantilevered arms supported by a well-postured and stable torso with an open body cavity, symbolizing the strength of the individual and the ability in each of us to have an open heart. We can show the world what we are truly made of. All of us can make a difference. The only thing you need to do is look inside yourself-- you have more to offer than you think.

Thanks to all who contributed to this year's sculpture: Stephen Pfund (Captain), Kin Lam, Halle Doenitz, Yue Zhao, Samuel Ng, Andrew Polimeni, Paige Cameron, Ethan Cotton, Adam Kirk, Jake Phelan, Sami Matar, Edward Roberts, Yusuke Hotta, Megan Lenz, and Hugh Kelly.

Special thanks to the partners of Leslie E. Robertson Associates for their support and to Pathmark for supplying the cans.

  2. It is the world's oldest transporter bridge and was built in 1893, designed by Alberto Palacio, one of Gustave Eiffel's disciples (as shown on the wikipedia).
Placed between the the towns of Portugalete and Getxo, and a few kilometers away from the capital, Bilbao, it's the last bridge before the mouth of the river opens to the sea.

This time-lapse it's just a little homage to the construction, which somehow, it´s moving parts, seem to breathe to the pulse of the river Nervion... as a living object...

The construction it's part of the World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, since July 13, 2006.

  4. For the lovely people from Belgium. :)

The purpose of my master thesis is to create a new way of experiencing remarkable architecture. Inspired by the work of Santiago Calatrava in Belgium, I developed the idea for the film »Liège-Guillemins«. The principal components I tried to show with my project are the interaction between architecture and humans as well as time and light. Every frame has been taken carefully by a digital SLR camera. In post production thousands of images have been stabilized, edited and tied together to a moving image.
