1. Satan, the world, and our own sinful flesh are bent on leading us astray. Their intent is to have us believe all sorts of lies about the God who created us and to thereby separate us eternally from him. But the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ proclaims to us the real truth. Through the Word made flesh, you and I can have our eyes opened to the truth of God’s love for each of us and thereby learn to ignore the lies and hold fast to the truth.

  2. As our Good Shepherd, Jesus showed how great the Father’s love for us is and how we are to model that love in our daily lives. This includes putting aside petty differences and avoiding jealousies that create division in interactions with others. Christ’s Spirit daily strengthens us for this baptismal life together.

  3. Even as Easter people, our sinful human nature still leads to brokenness and separation in our relationships with God and with one another. Our heavenly Father, in his overwhelming love for his children shown ultimately on the cross, restores those relationships, so that we are not left alone. We are restored—drawn back together—to enjoy the life he wants for us.

  4. Our joyous celebration of the Resurrection continues! As we ponder this miraculous turning point in human history, we witness God’s power even in our own lives. Christ is risen among us and assures us of his Spirit and his peace.

As Easter people, we seek to daily follow our Risen Lord’s teachings. Our new sermon series “This, Not That” focuses on the first letter of the apostle and evangelist St. John. In this sermon-like writing John addresses some false ideas which had arisen in the early Church and talks about the Church as a family of believers.

Recorded on April 8, 2018 at the 10:45 a.m. worship service from CLC Carmel’s Sanctuary. “Light Not Darkness” (1 John 1:5-2:2). Pastor Max Murphy. Sermon series: “This Not That”.

  5. “Alleluia! Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia!” That Easter greeting, proclaimed throughout the ages of the Church, takes root in our hearts so that we understand that the resurrected life is now our own. Jesus has wiped away all fears, all tears! This profound message is to be proclaimed to all the world.

Recorded on April 1, 2018 (Easter) at the 11:00 a.m. worship service from CLC Carmel’s Worship Center. “Life Not Death” (John 20:1-18). Pastor Luther Brunette. Sermon series: “This Not That”.
