  2. Many brands offer jeans that have a 'worn'-look. Sandblasting is one of the techniques used to achieve this faded look – Deadly to workers applying this technique: it is known to cause an acute form of the fatal disease silicosis.

We don't want workers to be harmed for our fashion! Instead, we propose some safe and fun ways to do the trick yourself. Ingredients: a pair of new, untreated jeans, salt, a wall and/or a floor, a cheese grater and you may want to add some friends. Enjoy!

  4. Hamdani, 32, made Adidas sports shoes until 2005 when he was unfairly dismissed for participating in a strike for better wages. He has now been without work for several years and is struggling to provide for his young family.

Almost 5 years ago Hamdani lost his job at an Adidas supplier factory because of his participation in a union demonstration to demand better wages and working conditions for factory employees. Despite the Indonesian human rights commission’s ruling that the dismissal was illegal and a violation of human rights, Hamdani is yet to be reinstated.
