Coming to Korea

  1. I've had two easy weeks so I didn't do a video for week 21, apologies. I've just been relaxing in Daegu. Working and being with friends on the weekend. Most of that is the usual. I go downtown and before I know it the night is gone, the sun is up, and we are eating "hangover soup" hajung guk. It's actually very delicious, spicy pork spine soup.

This weekend I'm headed to Busan for Petros birthday with Laura. Should be a good shout. We have Jessie's hen party coming up next weekend, that should be some amazing craic!

    Till next week, enjoy

  2. What an amazing weekend, and birthday! The girls were awesome and decorated our room, and then me, for my birthday. We got to go on another amazing adventure, and met some great people. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday in Korea!

Thanks again for all the birthday messages, emails, Kakao texts, and everything! I am truly greatful for every one I got. At times like this, I miss home and everyone there that I would normally spend days like this with. I'm having a blast, but do know I do miss and love you all back home too! Xoxo

  3. This week was an easy week. Work is always interesting, but nothing overly crazy. I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned my apartment. I'm fully in it and am loving being on my own again! I will have a house warming party soon to mess it all up again! Haha

We went hiking, I joined the Daegu Gaelic football team. I have no idea how to play, or even what it really is. It should be interesting!

  5. I went to a Presbyterian church service. It was interesting to say the least. I, of course, didn't understand much because it was all in Korean.

The girls and I went to Phantom of the Opera, and it was amazing. One of my top favorite moments of the almost four months I've been here! We were all buzzing off of it last night, and each other. I love my girls, and am so thankfully I found them right away. Plus, we got to add Shayla to our group and it got even better!

We are headed to Busan next weekend for St. Patricks day and Holi Hai the following day. Holi hai is a celebration of spring, and from what I've been told it is an Indian tradition to color the air and each other with paint. It's what all the color runs are based off of in the states.

My name is Marie, and I recently moved to Daegu, South Korea for a year to teach English. Yes, this is a real thing much to the shock of my family and friends. No, I do not speak or read Korean...yet! Yes, this is going to be a very interesting year.
I was just your normal twenty-something girl living in Fargo, North Dakota, yes, like the movie, when my sister emailed me about this opportunity. I wasn't too sure about it. I mean, come on, it's on the other side of the world, and I know nothing about Korea or even Asia, except I really like their food! After said sister badgered me into sending my resume off to a friend of hers my fate was sealed a day later with one phone call. The phone call was my "interview" which basically consisted of asking me how fast I could get to Korea! With that out of the way, I sold/donated everything in my one bedroom apartment except for the clothes and things I brought with me. Welcome to my crazy adventure!
