With 2 airline tickets we needed to use or lose, we decided to soak up some sun and headed for Arizona for two weeks. Kathy's sister lives in the Phoenix area so we visited with the family for a few days, then headed for the Grand Canyon. We camped on both rims allowing us six days for photo ops. It wasn't the best of conditions — with big crowds on the south rim (though we managed to avoid them as much as possible), haze from a fire, cloudless days, and only one spectacular "Arizona" sunset — but we still had fun and easily survived the night-time temps of 29° on the North Rim (a dry cold is a lot less bone chilling compared to the damp cold back home in WA). From there we headed south to red rock country in Sedona and hooked up with the family again for 3 days. While in Sedona we all hiked the West Fork Oak Creek Canyon trail where we enjoyed a fantastic show of fall color.

My short film captures our two weeks of traveling along Arizona's byways. I hope you enjoy it.
