A hybrid project of video and dance by IsItModern?, Dancing in the District aims to shed light on the lifestyles, work and answer the questions relating to the Importance and expansion of Modern Dance.

It was put in motion in an effort to combat the incestuous nature of the dance community. While support remains constant, new audiences remain a challenge to attract. Dancing in the District is for the casual audience. It is to serve as a gateway to an art form that remains among the less supported of the physical Art genres. While the public eye is familiar with Theatre plays, Ballet and its nutcracker, Modern Dance still competes with the likes of the internet, 3D Films, and other sources of instant gratification. IIM? founder David Dowling has approached Modern Dance with the philosophy that media, particularly video, can make the medium more accessible to all audiences.
