Follow the evil that roams through the dark bowers of man's domain in this balls-to-the-wall animated tribute to the sights, sounds and unforgettable characters of Sam Raimi’s iconic EVIL DEAD trilogy!

This is my cinematic love letter to three influential movies that made me want to be a filmmaker: EVIL DEAD, EVIL DEAD 2, and ARMY OF DARKNESS.

I created all the artwork in the sequence, but the final image is directly inspired by an incredible EVIL DEAD poster created by Olly Moss. The moment I saw it, I only wanted to see it move – which is how I feel about all great posters. The new wave of artists working with Mondo have made movie posters worth collecting again, and that's a great thing. I hope to someday join their ranks.

And I can't wait to see the new EVIL DEAD remake. My studio specializes in title sequences, and I want the opening credits for this new journey to the cabin to be just as frightening and original as the film they introduce. (I would not-so-secretly love a chance to pitch my take, and if that’s even close to possible, I’m open for business at exmortisfilms.com.)

Special thanks to the cast and crew of the EVIL DEAD trilogy, Jeff Yorkes (who found me a print of that sold-out-in-an-instant Olly Moss poster), and Joe Pleiman, the most talented sound designer in the world.

In the summer of 2012, I was contacted by Greg Yaitanes, who directed the pilot episode of BANSHEE, a new Cinemax action series that he was also executive producing. Greg invited me pitch for the main title sequence, so I created this proof-of-concept animation.

The sequence blends 2D artwork inside a 3D environment to produce a dynamic introduction to BANSHEE’s “thief-out-of-water” story. Additional lighting effects and textures add to a “gritty pulp” approach that guarantees a stylized, action-packed kickoff to each episode.

The sequence features comic book illustrations by Eisner Award-winning artist Tim Bradstreet. I built my concept around commissioning original illustrations of the cast to use in the main title, along with specific BANSHEE filming locations. My goal was to not only establish the main characters, but also the unique Pennsylvania town that the series is named after.

BANSHEE premiered in January of 2013 and is already renewed for a 2nd season. Although my pitch didn't move forward, working with Greg was a fantastic opportunity, and I'm blown away by the ingenuity of the title sequence created by Tin Punch Media (tinpunchmedia.com), which features unique "combinations" used to unlock specific BANSHEE content on the Web.

"We are arriving at that unique moment in time where the
term "fan-made" becomes moot. This is extraordinary."

    - Damon Lindelof, Executive Producer, LOST

"Kudos to Daniel Kanemoto for his terrific fan version of
THE WALKING DEAD opening titles -- they rock big time!"

    - Gale Anne Hurd, Producer, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE ABYSS, THE WALKING DEAD

My favorite "exclusive" from the 2009 Comic-Con convention was a beautiful painting by legendary artist Drew Struzan, featuring a horde of zombies from THE WALKING DEAD. Frank Darabont is adapting the apocalyptic Image Comics book created by Robert Kirkman, and man, it looks really, really great.

As I was admiring Struzan's work of art, I wondered what the opening titles to this terrifying new television show might look like... so I animated a spec title sequence using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.

Just so there's no confusion, I'm not affiliated with the production in any way -- I'm simply a huge fan of both Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman, and this is my attempt at creating a cinematic introduction to one of the all time great "continuing stories of survival horror."

THE WALKING DEAD premiered on October 31st, 2009 on AMC and is currently the highest rated basic cable series of all time.

Say goodbye to the outside world with this teaser for the new Amblin Entertainment TV series UNDER THE DOME, based on the bestselling novel by Stephen King.

I created this trailer on spec, as a demonstration piece for my animation studio, Ex Mortis Films. Why UNDER THE DOME? It's coming soon, it's filled with visuals that I can't wait to see, and Stephen King is my favorite author of all time.

UNDER THE DOME premieres on June 24th, 2013 on CBS.
