Noh theatre is formalised dance, song and music that originated in Mid-evil Japan. Dr. Czechowska talks about the role of women in Noh as subjects in plays and the depth of perception that comes about for those who appreciate this arcane performance art. This interview was done 10 years ago and was part of a documentary film on Noh.
In late the 1990s & early 2000s Mimi LeBourjois and Sumiko Embutsu guided foreigners around Tokyo taking them to out of the way parks, walkways, shrines and temples that abound in the Tokyo region. Mimi LeBourjois returned to Savannah Georgia after we did a short film on Wisteria flowers along the Sumida river. Sumiko Embutsu may still be providing books on the subjects at hand ... a series called 'Tokyo Walking Tours.' This piece was shot in SD on a JVC 500 camera.
